I enjoy straightening teeth and all that it involves. I also enjoy sharing stories of family and friends, and hearing about the lives of my patients when they come in for their appointments. I have a wonderful and loyal staff that has been with me for a long time. It is important to me that our office is a welcoming, warm place to visit.
I attended Cal Poly SLO and studied Biological Sciences. I graduated from The Art Dugoni School of Dentistry in 1986 with my Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) and in 1989 I received my Master of Science in Dentistry (M.S.D.) as well as my certificate in Orthodontics, also from The Art Dugoni School of Dentistry. I joined my father in practice in 1989, the year I graduated. My dad and I practiced together for 15 years until he retired. I feel very fortunate to be continuing in his footsteps.
I became a Board Certified Orthodontist in 1999. Certification by the American Board of Orthodontics is a distinction that confers the highest level of professional achievement in orthodontics. It requires examinations both written and oral, as well as case presentations. A Board Certified Orthodontist is also called a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics.
I have been providing braces treatment since 1989, and clear aligner treatment using the Invisalign® appliance since 2001.
I completed the Invisalign® Orthodontic Master Program in September 2016. I completed the Invisalign Teen Edge Program, a 12-month collaborative program in September 2017. This program is focused exclusively on treating teenagers with the Invisalign appliance.
I enjoy clinical research and have been lead investigator in numerous studies using the Invisalign system.
I belong to many organizations and am an active participant in organized dentistry. I am a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the California Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Santa Clara County Dental Society. I am committee chairperson on PCSO Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force.
When I am not working, I enjoy hiking, camping, gardening and taking care of our family of people and pets. I also love to read and listen to music. I am married and have four children, we live in Willow Glen.
My love for horses began in childhood. I have two rescue ponies. Popsicle was rescued from Gilroy and Archie was rescued from Aptos. The two of them came from very different backgrounds, but they are bonded and very happy together.
Popsicle and I participate in pet-assisted therapy. We visit retirement communities, schools, and children in their homes. Popsicle, Archie, and I enjoy hiking and camping.
